It has been confirmed that fan-favorite actors Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson will reprise their iconic roles in the next chapter of the Hunger Games film series, titled The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping. Production is currently underway.

A Significant Comeback for the Franchise

The actors will once again portray Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark, the characters they made famous. Speculation suggests their appearance will take the form of a brief glimpse ahead, given that the main film series concluded with their characters living in peace.

This represents the sixth installment in the blockbuster Hunger Games franchise.

Exploring the New Story

Sunrise on the Reaping is adapted from a newly published work by series creator Suzanne Collins. It acts as the second prequel film after 2023's The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes. Returning to the director's chair is Francis Lawrence, who has helmed the majority of the previous films in the series.

A New Era in Panem

The film's narrative are set in the years leading up to the first Hunger Games, focusing on a young Haymitch Abernathy. Haymitch, who would later become Katniss's mentor, is shown as a tribute in the notorious 50th Hunger Games.

The cast also includes several accomplished actors in key parts:

• Jesse Plemons will portray Plutarch Heavensbee.
• Ralph Fiennes is cast as a earlier incarnation of the menacing President Snow.

What the Stars Are Doing Now & The Film's Schedule

Separately, Jennifer Lawrence stars in the film Die My Love. Josh Hutcherson is part of the successful franchise Five Nights at Freddy's 2.

Regarding the shoot:
