Chiefs Acknowledge Alleged Abuse Claims Involving Player Rashee Rice

The NFL franchise released a comment on Wednesday evening stating they are aware of claims of abuse circulated in social media posts by a former girlfriend of player Rashee Rice and were in communication with the league office.

The organization omitted the name of Rice specifically in their announcement and stated they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Allegations Posted on Instagram

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who likewise did not name the athlete by name, posted a set of images on Instagram that seemed to depict signs of physical abuse. She did say the person involved was the father of her children, and it is known she has two children with the football player, whom the team selected in the 2023 draft.

Police Reports Currently Unavailable

No police reports were available in Overland Park, Kansas where the alleged abuse is said to have taken place.

Player's Recent Off-Field Troubles

The receiver was absent for the initial part of this season following an NFL suspension for his role in instigating a crash on a Dallas highway that resulted in several individuals hurt. Rice was sentenced 30 days in jail and five years’ probation after entering a guilty plea to felony charges.

Statistically, Rice finished the season with 53 receptions for 571 receiving yards and five touchdowns as the Chiefs finished 6-11 and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first time in a ten-year span.
